EXHIBITION / AUSSTELLUNG
8 – 28 August 2014
Thu – Sat: 16 – 19h
A lecture by Adrian Grzonka will be held this Sunday, 10 August 2014
from 4 – 6pm. The historian and Derrida connoisseur provides an introduction to the Babel myth and its conceptual and thematic significance in literature. A round table discussion with the curators of deuxpiece and the artists Yvon Chabrowski and Alexis Fidetzis on the intersection with the exhibition will follow up. Finally, everyone is invited to a barbecue with sausages and drinks with the music compilation by DJane Nora Locher.
For the exhibition "The Tower of Babel Project - Reloaded" deuxpiece invites ten international artists to address the myth of the Tower of Babel. Last year, deuxpiece published the extensive publication "The Tower of Babel Project" in collaboration with the artist Alexis Fidetzis. This research-based artwork formed a global archive of the parliament buildings of each individual nation-state. The ongoing parallel online project enabled the convergence of numerous and diverse artworks that rearranged the mythological tower on the World Wide Web (thetowerofbabelproject.com). In an attempt for the tower to find its real space in Basel, "Reloaded" presents a targeted selection of artistic positions, which illuminate the complexity of the subject from a variety of angles.
