Francisca Silva (*1984) was born in the Ticino to a Chilean heritage. She earned a Master of Arts in Fine Arts from Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in 2012. Selected events and exhibitions: 2014 Stadtgalerie, Bern CH; 2013 Kunsthaus Baselland CH; Sonnenstube, Lugano CH; 2012 Helmhaus, Zürich CH. She lives and works in Zürich and Berlin.
Francisca Silva, as Macho and Her Gun, tattoos so-called Frattoos; as Fra, she creates art installations; as Silva Pabst, she writes incisive prose; as F. R. A., she mixes rap samples. She is everywhere, on all channels — most of all on social media — and infiltrates the world with her work and ideas.
The hallmarks of her style are electrifying neon colours and the raging aerosoled patterns resulting from her appropriation of textiles, cardboard, paper, and wood — and, since Process Work, also canvas.
