Artist Statement

Gregor Vogel is a conceptual artist based in Zurich. His work mainly concerns with humans and the way they interact with what surrounds them. Using multiple platforms and formats, his works explore geographical, cultural or social contexts of the fields he chooses to work in. Employing multiple artistic mediums such as performance, photography or sound he works in the studio, the field or even directly in the exhibition space. Attempting to identify the core and the relevance of the structures at play in his works, he looks for the balance between the essential and the ornament. In 2018 he graduated from the University of the Arts (ZHdK).

In collaboration with the designer and artist Fernando Obieta, Gregor Vogel explores topics surrounding digital art and culture and creates projects concerning with culturally constructed borders between sound and music.

In collaboration with the artist Fiona Könz, he mainly works on projects concerning with constructed ideas of identities. In their installations, performances and video works they attempt to trespass the borders between each other. In 2017 they won the second prize at the Biennale Osijek with their video installation Surrogate.
