Die Gruppenausstellung Contrology versammelt Arbeiten von elf zeitgenössischen Künstler*innen, die sich Phänomenen im Zusammenhang mit Kontrollsystemen für Körper und Geist widmen. In einer als überkontrolliert und unkontrollierbar erfahrbaren Außenwelt fungiert der menschliche Körper als Marketingfläche und Performance wird rund um die Uhr gefordert. Zugleich scheint die verlangte Kultivierung des Körpers nicht ohne die Disziplinierung des Geistes auszukommen. Die ‘richtige Haltung’ zählt! Ursprünglich vom Fitnesstrainer Joseph Pilates als Beschreibung für sein Regelwerk zur Muskelkontrolle ins Leben gerufen, erforscht Contrologyin der Ausstellung ein erweitertes Feld von sowohl physischen wie auch mentalen Formen und Techniken auf dem Weg zum (kontrollierten) Glück.

The group exhibition Contrology brings together works by eleven contemporary artists that are dedicated to phenomena related to systems of control for body and mind. In an external world perceived as over-controlled and uncontrollable, the human body functions as a marketing surface and performance is demanded 24/7. At the same time, the required cultivation of the body does not seem to be possible without the disciplining of the mind. The 'right’ posture and the ‘right’ attitude counts! Originally invented by fitness trainer Joseph Pilates as a description for his set of rules for muscle control, Contrology in the exhibition explores an expanded field of both physical and mental forms and techniques on the path to (controlled) happiness.
