The exhibition, devoted to the work of the artist David Weiss (1946-2012), explores the vibrant, dynamic artistic community that formed in Carona, in Canton Ticino, between 1968 and 1978. At that time, Casa Aprile, owned by the Wenger family, became a hub for artists and intellectuals, including Esther Altorfer, Anton Bruhin, Matthyas Jenny, Peter Schweri and Willy Spiller. The opportunities for engagement and experimentation offered by this community played a key role in shaping Weiss’s practice, in the period before he became part of the renowned duo Fischli / Weiss.Carefully selected works and archive materials offer fascinating insights into the utopian dreams and vital energy of Casa Aprile. The show includes drawings, watercolours, numerous photographs, audio recordings, videos and publications. It also highlights Weiss’s collaborations with other key figures, such as Urs Lüthi and Iwan Schumacher.Curated by Tobia Bezzola and Virginia Marano, in collaboration with The Estate of David Weiss
