What does it feel like to sit inside a slow and low vibrational frequency? This installation of colorful drawings from 2022-23 aims to create a soothing environment for the body, with references to children’s bed-time books, post cards, nostalgia and natural landscapes. The artist, Sivan Lavie uses words, images and a childlike line, but in giant format, to create an improbable, cartoonish scenarios, that feel like like sitting inside a bowl of cornflakes, or floating in the sky next to the night stars. Creating calming imaginary situations is her way of returning to childhood techniques of self-soothing, like lying under the covers and breathing. The title refers to feeling the world through the senses, and is also a line from one of her poems, Two moonstars hugging. The visual work in the exhibition goes hand-in-hand with the poetic work in An Apple a Day (&other forms of soothing love), a chapbook, newly published by the artist.
