Galerie Eva Presenhuber is delighted to announce an online viewing room of new paintings and drawings by Tschabalala Self. Our online presentation runs in tandem with Self's new exhibition, The Stage, at our private showroom in New York, which presents works inspired by and directly lifted from her Performa Biennial 2021 commission, Sounding Board.  Sounding Board, written and directed by Self, premiered in Harlem this past weekend and was the artist’s first ever live performance. In the play, Self's iconic collage-paintings came to life in the form of male/female dialogues that examined the complex nuances of romantic relations, constraints of verbal communication, and universal desire for haptic connection. Rendered in Self’s signature style that extends the boundaries of the figurative, the works in The Stage run the gamut from costumes and sculptural furniture to mixed-media paintings and fanciful works on paper.  The showroom is open by appointment only until December 16, 2021.
